about CUBE

Built for this moment. Backed by a mandate.

CUBE Arts Foundation Healdsburg isn't an experiment. It's the nonprofit Healdsburg's Arts & Culture Master Plan called for in 2021 — and the vehicle the Arts & Culture Commission now requires to fund and program the city's cultural future.
In August 2021, the Healdsburg City Council adopted an Arts & Culture Master Plan — a blueprint for turning the city's creative life into a sustainable engine for economic growth, community identity, and equity. The plan called for two things the city didn't yet have: a philanthropic vehicle to receive and steward private support for arts and culture, and a dedicated fund to augment city resources.

For nearly four years, that vehicle didn't exist. Artists applied for grants through patchwork channels. Programming was ad hoc. There was no single entity responsible for turning the plan's vision into coordinated action.
CUBE changes that. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public benefit corporation, incorporated in California and recognized by the IRS, built to do exactly what the Master Plan envisioned: raise private funds, award grants, program public art and cultural experiences, and ensure that every resident — regardless of language, income, or background — has access to the creative life of this city.

We're aligned with the Arts & Culture Commission but governed independently. We're accountable to the community, transparent with every dollar, and built to outlast any single administration or grant cycle. This isn't a side project. It's infrastructure.

Our Philosophy
Arts and culture are not a luxury. They're the engine.
Many arts nonprofits ask you to support the arts for the arts' sake that supports their direct mission. CUBE asks something different: invest in arts and culture because they drive economic growth, build community identity, attract visitors, retain residents, and create belonging.

We don't treat culture as something that needs saving. We treat it as infrastructure — the same way you'd invest in roads, parks, or schools. When you fund CUBE, you're not making a charitable gesture. You're making an investment in the long-term vitality of Healdsburg.
Our Mandate
Rooted in Healdsburg's master plan.
Everything CUBE does maps to the five goals of Healdsburg's 2021 Arts & Culture Master Plan: build a structural foundation for cultural investment, enrich experiences for residents and visitors, grow an inclusive creative economy, advance art in the public realm, and support spaces for artistic practice and community gathering.

We complement the Arts & Culture Commission's focus areas — brand and identity, an arts website, percent-for-art exploration, public art in infrastructure, and grant program development — while operating independently as the private fundraising and programming partner the plan envisioned.
